Quick response with motion blur-free

Because the OLED electroluminescent layer inherently responds to any electrical current input, it emits light immediately. By this mechanism, excellent quick response characteristics can be achieved in fast-motion images.

As Sony’s OLED electroluminescent layer is not a liquid crystal type of layer, performance is maintained in any climate, and the speed of response is unaffected by low temperatures.

High-contrast images and outstanding deep blacks

A feature of the OLED display panel is that it does not emit light when no electric current is applied or when a black signal is received. In this way, the deep black of a night scene can be accurately displayed and the black portion of an image is not raised even in a low-illumination edit suite making the PVM-740 superior in performances to a LCD or even a CRT

Extremely high peak brightness

Sony’s Super Top EmissionTM structure takes emitted light from the opposite side of the TFT circuit without limiting the circuit’s aperture ratio. This method offers more efficient light emission. In addition, Sony’s Super Top EmissionTM is equipped with a micro-cavity structure and incorporates colour filters. The micro-cavity structure improves light efficiency and increases the brightness of emitted light.

High-purity and rich colour reproduction

Thanks to the Sony’s micro-cavity structure and RGB colour filters of the Super Top EmissionTM OLED panel, colour purity is dramatically enhanced and stunning rich colour can be reproduced.

Accurate colour reproduction and consistency

Every PVM-740 monitor is precisely colour calibrated at the factory, providing characteristics consistent with those of CRT displays. So that the R, G, B colour coordinates are virtually the same as those of a CRT monitor.

The PVM-740 monitor is also equipped with a Sony’s unique feed-back circuit system. This system works to monitor the emitted lights all the time, and feed the monitor-result back and adjust the white balance. This system ensures colour and gamma consistency, and reduces maintenance strain of the users.

Robust, Light-weight, and Compact body

Incorporating a light-weight and compact aluminium die-cast body with a detachable AR-coated protection panel, this model is flexible enough to change style according to user requirements: with or without stand (which is easily detachable), tilted on a stand (15-degree slant), rack-mounted, or set on a camera pedestal.
