Sony to play a leading role in the digitalisation of Turkish cinema

Istanbul, November 22nd 2010 – Sony Professional has today announced a landmark agreement with Mars Entertainment Group to supply six Sony Digital Cinema 4K Projection systems to Cinebonus theatres across Turkey. The agreement marks the start of a new digital revolution in Turkish cinema, which will see cinema-goers for the first time enjoy the incredible 2D and 3D experiences offered by 4K digital technology. The SRX-R320 cinema projector by Sony Professional will be installed in theatres located in major Turkish cities including Istanbul, Izmir and Bornova.

SRX-R320 cinema projector

The SRX-R320 cinema projector is an ultra-high-resolution projector, designed specifically for digital cinema applications. The SXRD™ imaging devices used in the SRX-R320 projector make it possible to realise 4K resolution, through its 4096 H X 2160 V pixel matrix, which is stipulated by the Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC (DCI).  In this way, the Sony 4K projectors presents the image quality and clarity of 8.8 megapixels high-resolution picture quality which can be expressed as the square of 2K (2K ²). The resolution rate in 2K projectors is 2.2 megapixels.
